Nani?!

Tap to rate

Bready, rice-cracker malt meets a gentle citrus-floral lift from Motueka hops, with a crisp snap and a feather-light body. Brewed with jasmine rice and filtered Hill Country well water, fermented clean and left unpasteurized. The name is an anime wink: "nani" means "what?!", the reaction to Jester King making a lager. One of its first clean beers in cans, it now runs year-round.

◎ Appearance

Pale straw yellow, brilliantly clear with excellent transparency. A delicate white head forms quickly and recedes to a thin collar, leaving sparse but defined lacing down the glass. Fine carbonation creates persistent pinpoint bubbles throughout the body.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with soft, grainy breadiness from jasmine rice and pale malt, immediately followed by a gentle lift of citrus zest and delicate floral notes from Motueka hops. Clean fermentation character dominates—no yeast esters or sulfur—allowing the subtle hop and grain interplay to remain in the foreground. The overall bouquet is restrained and inviting rather than assertive.

◐ Taste

The palate enters with light, cracker-like malt sweetness that mirrors the aroma's bready character. Mid-palate stays lean and crisp, with Motueka bringing gentle citrus and herbal-floral notes that prevent any cloying buildup. Bitterness is understated at 22 IBU, providing just enough structure to frame the delicate malt without intruding. The body remains feather-light throughout, never thin or watery.
