M&B Mild

Tap to rate

M&B Mild is a dark mild in the Birmingham tradition of Mitchells & Butlers, fermented with a blend of three yeast strains that gives the beer its fruity scent. Roasted cereal and buttery caramel come first on the nose. On the palate sweet, malty fruit forms the base, cut by burnt-roast coffee, chocolate and a trace of lemony sourness. At 2.8% it is very low in strength even for a mild, and it is served on draught, from the keg as well as from the cask.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with pronounced sweet malt and ripe fruit character, building a rounded, almost dessert-like entry. Mid-palate introduces burnt-roast coffee and dark chocolate, grounding the sweetness with bitter-cocoa tannins. A faint lemony sourness appears as counterpoint, preventing cloying, while the modest 24 IBU keeps bitterness restrained and integrated.

◑ Finish

The finish is short and clean, trailing coffee and subtle cocoa bitterness without harshness. The low strength (2.8% ABV) contributes to a light, quaffable farewell.
