🌍 Australia · Scottish Ale · One of 26 Scottish Ales in hopIQ

Brewed once a year since 1998, each release a new recipe, and made to be cellared as the bitterness softens and the malt moves forward. The 2026 hop bill pairs the experimental HBC-1134 with Krush: navel orange leads, backed by peach, ripe mango, guava, lychee and berries, with floral and herbal notes threading through. Deep gold to amber in the glass, the palate smooth and creamy, with woody depth and a firm bitterness holding the malt richness in check.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Coopers Vintage Ale

Appearance

Deep gold to amber hue, bright and clear in the glass with excellent clarity. The head builds steadily and maintains strong lacing down the sides, indicating good protein and carbonation stability. A visually substantial pour that promises depth and age-worthiness.

Aroma

The nose leads with bright navel orange and stone fruit—peach and ripe mango—layered over tropical notes of guava and lychee. Beneath the fruit sits a floral and herbal backbone, threading through with subtle woody undertones that hint at oak integration and cellaring potential.

Taste

Entry is smooth and creamy, with the malt foundation rich and full-bodied across the palate. Mid-palate develops those same tropical fruit flavours, while a firm bitterness—backed by woody depth—holds the sweetness in check without overshadowing the malt character. The balance suggests this beer will reward cellaring as oxidation rounds the edges.

Finish

Medium to long finish with bitterness carrying through cleanly. The aftertaste dries gradually, leaving traces of berry and herb that linger pleasantly without harshness.
