Lunatica Wheat Wine

Tap to rate

Strongly alcoholic, intense and complex, a wheat-laden barley wine aged 16 months in Monastrell red-wine barrels. The brewery calls it a new episode of madness with halos of friendship, warm enough to melt icebergs and made to be taken slowly. It carries the wheat wine label. From the Murcia huerta, the brewery has made its own brand since 2009.

◌ Aroma

Dark fruit notes emerge—plum and dried cherry—alongside subtle alcohol warmth that signals the wine's complexity. Subtle caramel sweetness rounds the profile without dominating.

◐ Taste

The palate enters full and smooth, with wheat malt providing a soft, pillowy foundation. Mid-palate brings pronounced oak tannins and dark stone fruit, with underlying caramel and molasses depth. At 35 IBU, bitterness is restrained; instead, the alcohol warmth and wine-barrel character create a structured, lingering complexity.
