🌍 Belgium · Brown Ale · One of 28 Brown Ales in hopIQ

Adriaen Brouwer is the brewery's Oudenaards bruin, a brown beer carrying the regional designation of the town where it is made. It takes its name from the painter Adriaen Brouwer, born in Oudenaarde in 1605, and has worn it since 2003; before that it was sold as Roman Oudenaards. The dark ale is refermented in the bottle. Roasted malt and caramel lead the nose, with fruity notes behind them. The first sip is velvety, toasted malt and a touch of hops follow, and the finish turns lightly bitter.
