🌍 Belgium · Pale Lager · One of 167 Pale Lagers in hopIQ

An export beer, the bottom-fermented type that was popular in Belgium in the 1950s, when manual workers drank it by the 33 cl bottle because it was lighter than regular pils. The name recalls the blue work clothes of those labourers; today it carries the same 5.2 % as the brewery's pils. Brewed from water, maize, barley malt, hops and yeast, it pours clear with a fine white head. The aroma is of malt and hops, the palate malty with a gentle bitterness. With a shelf life of nine months, it is best drunk fresh.

What is a Pale Lager?

Euro Pale Lagers are clean, refreshing lagers with 4–5.5% ABV and IBU 10–25. Soft malt sweetness, light hop bitterness and high carbonation make them supremely drinkable.

Finding a similar Pale Lager

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same malty, light, bitter character as Blauw will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
