Hagger

Tap to rate

Dried fruits, dark and sweet caramel, vanilla, coconut, cocoa, a slight roast and berries shape aroma and taste. The bulk of the blend matures in bourbon barrels, the rest in other spirit barrels. Each release is a dated blend of selected barrel-aged barley wines, and a 2019 batch was also bottle-aged for nearly five years.

◐ Taste

Rich and full-bodied on entry, the palate develops a harmonious blend of dark caramel, toasted malz, and soft oak influence. The mid-palate balances berry notes and chocolate depth against a restrained 50 IBU bitterness that provides structure without harshness. The 12.4% alcohol is present but integrated, lending a warming spice rather than sharp heat.

◑ Finish

The finish is long and warming, with lingering caramel sweetness and subtle roasted malz character. Bourbon barrel character persists gently in the aftertaste, leaving a sophisticated, slightly dry conclusion.
