Blackshore
A smooth stout named after the black-tarred fishermen's huts on Southwold harbour. The grain bill is long – pale ale, brown, double-roasted crystal and chocolate malt, roasted barley and a generous share of oats – and it shows as coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Oats give the smoothness, Pilgrim and other British hops a subtle bitterness and a hint of dark hedgerow fruit. The hop character is light and the finish mellow.
