2020 Barley Wine

◎ Appearance

Deep amber to chestnut brown, clear and luminous when held to light. A thick, persistent head forms with strong lacing that clings to the glass throughout the tasting. The body carries a warm, honeyed glow characteristic of barrel-aged fortified styles.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with pronounced notes of aged wood and oxidative sherry, layered beneath dried dark fruit — raisins, prunes, and candied plum. A subtle vinous warmth emerges as the beer warms, with traces of caramel malt and leather adding complexity. The alcohol is present but integrated, speaking to patient aging.

◐ Taste

Entry is full and velvety, with pronounced malt sweetness anchored by caramel and toffee notes. The mid-palate reveals layers of raisin and fig, accompanied by a rich, warming alcohol presence that builds gradually. Bitterness is restrained at 30 IBU, allowing the malt complexity and aged character to dominate without harsh astringency.

◑ Finish

The finish extends long and graceful, fading from caramel and dried fruit into a gentle warming sensation that persists for several minutes. A dry, slightly oaky note lingers on the palate, leaving an impression of sophistication and craft.
