Polish lager is a story of scale. Żywiec, Tyskie, Okocim, and Lech dominate a market where the pale, slightly-sweet, moderately-hopped lager style — closer in profile to a Munich Helles than to a Czech Pilsner — has been the near-universal default for most of the modern era. That mainstream is genuine: Żywiec traces to 1856, Okocim to 1845, and the Polish brewing tradition predates most of the German-speaking industrial lager scene it now most resembles.
The hopIQ ranking places the majors alongside a small but growing craft scene focused on reviving Grodziskie — Poland's historical top-fermented smoked wheat style, technically not a lager but often listed adjacent — and building modern Czech-style Pilsners and Bavarian Helles with genuine technical care. Poland's craft lager movement is smaller than its Czech or German neighbours', but the direction of travel is unmistakable.
