Deep black with an opaque, impenetrable body and a dense tan head that settles to a thin collar. Excellent head retention and lacing cling to the glass walls with each sip. The carbonation is restrained, befitting the weight and complexity of the imperial stout format.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with dark roasted malt and cocoa, followed by warm vanilla and toasted coconut from the extended conditioning on Sri Lankan coconut and Madagascan vanilla. Underneath, rum character emerges—caramel-forward and slightly spiced from the Barbados barrel aging. A subtle earthiness from the Carafa malt rounds out the profile without overwhelming the fruit-forward sweetness.

The palate is silky and full-bodied, delivering upfront notes of roasted barley and chocolate that transition into layered coconut and vanilla mid-palate. The Ghanaian cocoa nibs contribute a refined cocoa bitterness balanced against the rum's inherent sweetness. East Kent Goldings hops provide a restrained 65 IBU bitterness that lingers without astringency, allowing the tropical and confectionery notes to persist.

The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla and a dry cocoa fade that evolves into a subtle rum spice. The 12% ABV manifests as gentle alcohol warmth rather than heat, leaving the drinker with a sweet, slightly dry aftertaste.
