Devon Pride presents a dark amber hue with excellent clarity and a bright, golden-tan head that clings persistently to the glass. The carbonation is moderate and well-integrated, lending a gentle effervescence without aggression. Head retention speaks to a balanced malt structure and proper conditioning typical of quality cask ale.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with bright fruit esters—dried stone fruits and subtle dark berry notes—layered beneath a warm, rounded Malz character. A gentle toastiness and honey-like sweetness emerge on closer inspection, while noble hop aromatics provide a restrained, refined backdrop. The overall impression is inviting and balanced, with no harsh or solvent-like edges.

◐ Geschmack

The palate reveals a surprisingly full body that belies the modest 4.1% ABV, driven by a substantial Malz foundation with caramel and biscuit undertones. Fruit character persists through the mid-palate, offering dark stone fruit and subtle sweetness, while a moderate 40 IBU bitterness arrives cleanly on the finish without dominating. The mouthfeel is smooth and coating, with excellent integration of flavours.

The finish is medium-length and gently warming, with residual Malz sweetness and dark fruit lingering pleasantly on the palate. A dry, slightly toasty note emerges in the aftertaste, leaving a clean and inviting impression without bitterness overstaying its welcome.
