Jet black in the glass with minimal light transmission, presenting a dense, opaque body characteristic of the Russian Imperial Stout style. A thick tan head forms on the pour and clings persistently to the glass, leaving distinct lacing as the beer recedes. Fine carbonation creates a gentle effervescence beneath the dark surface.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with pronounced roasted malt character — burnt grain, charred wood, and ash — alongside rich espresso and dark chocolate notes. Secondary aromas of dried dark fruit and subtle caramel sweetness emerge as the beer warms, with a grounding mineral undertone that anchors the intensity. Hop bitterness remains restrained in the aroma, allowing the malt complexity to dominate.

◐ Geschmack

The palate enters with bold roasted character and espresso bitterness that builds through the mid-palate, balanced by bittersweet dark chocolate and a supporting caramel sweetness. Full body carries the flavors with warming alcohol heat that integrates smoothly rather than burning. A subtle nuttiness and lingering roast round out the middle, with 65 IBU providing assertive but not overwhelming bitterness.

◑ Abgang

The finish is long and dry, dominated by persistent roasted malt and espresso notes that linger for several minutes. Residual bitterness fades gradually, leaving a clean roasty character and gentle warmth in the throat.

Etwas wärmer als erwartet. 10–13°C lässt die gerösteten Malz-, Schokoladen- und Kaffeenoten vollständig entfalten.
