Grande Noirceur pours nearly black with minimal light transmission, presenting a dense tan head that settles into persistent lacing along the glass. The brew maintains excellent head retention throughout the pour, indicating rich protein and resin content. Carbonation appears moderate and well-integrated, contributing to the beer's substantial visual presence.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with pronounced roasted malt character, followed by dark chocolate and cocoa powder aromatics that frame the profile. Coffee and espresso notes emerge as the beer warms, creating layers of roasted complexity. Subtle dark fruit esters provide an undercurrent of plum and dried berry without dominating the roasted foundation.

◐ Geschmack

The palate enters full-bodied and rich, with roasted grain dominating the initial impression and transitioning into espresso and cocoa mid-palate. Dark fruit character—plum and raisin—weaves through the roasted notes without obscuring them. The 65 IBUs deliver a firm, lingering bitterness that frames the sweetness and complements the warming alcohol presence.

The finish extends long and warming, with the 9% ABV evident in a gentle alcohol warmth that persists without harshness. Roasted dryness and bitter notes linger on the palate, gradually fading to a dry, slightly astringent aftertaste.

Etwas wärmer als erwartet. 10–13°C lässt die gerösteten Malz-, Schokoladen- und Kaffeenoten vollständig entfalten.
