Widmer Brothers Brewing began in 1984 in Portland, Oregon, when brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer quit their jobs to follow a lifelong passion for beer. The first brewery stood in what is now the Pearl District; today the brewery's address is 929 N. Russell Street, where a taproom welcomes visitors. Fermentation tanks added in 2008 lifted capacity to 700,000 barrels a year, and a canning line followed in 2018. The brewery turned 40 in 2024 and belongs to Tilray's craft beer portfolio.
