Grupo Modelo
Grupo Modelo is one of Mexico's largest brewing companies, founded in 1925 in Mexico City by a group of Spanish immigrants including Braulio Iriarte and Martín Oyamburu. The brewery quickly built an internationally recognised portfolio of brands including Corona Extra, Modelo Especial, Negra Modelo, and Pacífico. In 2013, Anheuser-Busch InBev completed a $20.1 billion acquisition of the company, with the US rights to its brands transferred to Constellation Brands to satisfy antitrust requirements. Grupo Modelo continues to operate its breweries in Mexico as part of AB InBev and remains the country's largest beer producer.
