Founded in 2009 by Sara Nelson and Matt Lincecum in the Ballard neighborhood, Fremont Brewing started as a family-owned operation in the depths of the Great Recession and built a Pacific Northwest institution out of it. Everything is built around local sourcing: barley from British Columbia, hops from a fourth-generation Yakima Valley family farm, and water straight from the Cedar River. The result is a lineup that's cleanly Northwest — rich malt character balanced with restrained, elegant hop spice.
