Klein Fritzle Lager

Tap to rate

Mildly roasted malt and fine hop spice define this full-bodied Lager at 5.3%, brewed with fresh Black Forest water. The Klein Fritzle line is Dieter Schmid's tribute to his grandfather and appeared in 2026 in the Euro bottle. Whole natural hop cones from Tettnang, Spalt and the Hallertau and barley malt from Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate go into the kettle.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with gentle malt sweetness underscored by subtle roasted grain notes from the carefully selected barley. Noble hop aromatics emerge with quiet spice and herbal undertones—particularly Tettnang and Spalt—while the Black Forest water's mineral softness prevents any harshness. Overall the bouquet is clean and composed, inviting rather than assertive.

◐ Taste

The palate is full and rounded, with malt character anchoring the front entry and developing into a balanced mid-palate where spicy hop bite and mild roasted depth converge. The 22 IBU contribute measured bitterness that complements rather than dominates, while the malt's subtle sweetness remains present throughout. The finish is clean and dry without astringency.

◑ Finish

The finish is medium in length with a dry, gently spiced fade. The noble hops leave a refined herbal and peppery memory that doesn't linger aggressively, allowing the malt's subtle roasted character to settle gracefully on the palate.
