🌍 United States · Imperial Stout · One of 86 Imperial Stouts in hopIQ

A revival of a 2017 classic, brewed with Prairie Artisan Ales in Oklahoma. The most notable change: a nine-hour boil instead of two, and the mouthfeel shows it. Aged on four chilli varieties, coffee, cacao nibs and vanilla from Ecuador and Mexico. Opaque black in the glass, leading with dark chocolate, vanilla and mole. As it opens, fresh-ground coffee, molasses and a dried red-fruit character from the chillies emerge. Medium-bodied, warming and mildly sweet, at 11.5 percent.

Taste

Entry is full and coating, with dark chocolate and cacao nib character anchoring the palate. The nine-hour boil has created a notably velvety mouthfeel; mid-palate brings molasses sweetness and dried red-fruit character from the chillies, balanced by roasted undertones from the extended boil. The 11.5% ABV provides warmth without sharp alcoholic edges, while bitterness remains restrained, allowing adjunct complexity to dominate.
