Idaho Pale

Tap to rate

Clean, fresh and easy-drinking, with citrus notes and hints of stone fruit. This single-hop India pale ale takes its name from the Idaho hop, and 4.3% ABV keeps it in session territory. It debuted in 2022 in Titanic's Summer of IPAs and returned for the 40th-anniversary celebrations, on draught and in bottle.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with fresh citrus—predominantly grapefruit and lemon zest—supported by subtle stone fruit notes that suggest apricot or peach. Clean maltiness provides a soft foundation without asserting itself, while the single Idaho hop varietal delivers a crisp, herbaceous character with minimal yeast phenolics.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and refreshing, with immediate citrus brightness meeting a delicate malt sweetness. The mid-palate remains lean and dry, allowing the hop bitterness—measured at 40 IBU—to emerge as balanced rather than aggressive, finishing with a subtle fruit-forward complexity that does not overwhelm the low alcohol character.

◑ Finish

The finish is crisp and relatively short, with lingering citrus notes fading to a light herbal dryness. At 4.3% ABV, the beer concludes clean and sessionable, leaving no warming alcohol or heavy residue on the palate.

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.
