The Don

◎ Appearance

The Don pours a hazy, deep golden amber with excellent clarity despite its turbidity from suspension. A soft, pillowy white head forms and holds with good persistence, leaving distinct lacing on the glass as it recedes. The body is full and viscous, suggesting the substantial alcohol and malt weight beneath the surface.

◌ Aroma

The nose is intensely hop-forward, leading with bright tropical fruit—ripe mango and papaya—alongside white citrus notes that leap from the glass. A resinous backbone and dank, pine-forward earthiness ground the bouquet, with a subtle herbal quality that speaks to Verdant's assertive hopping. The overall character is assertive but not harsh, inviting deep inhalation.

◐ Taste

Entry is luscious and full, with juicy fruit character that mirrors the aroma—mango, papaya, and citrus zest come through immediately on the palate. Mid-palate builds a firm, measured bitterness that sits comfortably alongside the fruit, avoiding harshness while providing clear structure. The mouthfeel is remarkably smooth for the alcohol strength, with a velvety, hop-oil texture that lingers pleasantly.

◑ Finish

The finish is long and warming, with resinous, piney notes persisting on the palate and throat. A gentle, lingering bitterness and subtle alcohol warmth define the aftertaste, leaving the drinker with a bold, commanding impression.

Serve at 8–11°C for the best flavour balance and aroma expression.

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.
