Export

Tap to rate

The beer that started Shipyard: Export was first poured at Federal Jack's in Kennebunkport in 1992 and follows English brewing tradition. This golden ale carries a hint of malty sweetness. Willamette, Cascade and Tettnang provide the hops, two-row British pale ale, crystal and wheat malts the base, and wherever possible the ingredients come from Maine farms. At 5.1% ABV, it is still the flagship.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with approachable malty sweetness balanced by measured noble hop bitterness. Mid-palate reveals wheat malt's soft, clean character alongside caramel notes from the crystal malt. The bitterness (29 IBU) never dominates, instead providing structure and a crisp counterpoint that keeps the beer from becoming cloying.
