Raven Raspberry

Tap to rate

A properly sour raspberry beer, proudly pink and bursting with tart, tangy raspberry. Raven calls it the most requested member of its Sour Ale series. The brewery's 'Pilsener Weisse' was, in its own words, the first Czech sour and set off an avalanche of Czech sours. Real raspberries meet Pilsner, Wheat and Acidulated malts and Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops. Brewed at 9° Plato.

AI-generated sensory profile for Raven Raspberry

◎ Appearance

A striking pale pink hue, bright and translucent with excellent clarity. Fine carbonation creates a delicate, persistent white head that clings evenly to the glass. The color derives entirely from the natural raspberry infusion, presenting as proudly unconventional without cloudiness.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with bright, fresh raspberry—tart and immediately assertive without artificial character. Beneath lies a soft wheat note and subtle Hallertau Mittelfrüh herbal undertones that ground the fruit without competing. A gentle sourness permeates, inviting rather than aggressive.

◐ Taste

Intense tartness dominates the palate, accentuated by authentic raspberry fruit that coats the mid-palate. The Pilsner and wheat malts provide a clean, slightly grainy foundation that supports rather than sweetens the souring. Low bitterness (7 IBU) allows the sour character and fruit to remain the focal point throughout.

◑ Finish

The finish is crisp and refreshing, with the sourness and fruit lingering cleanly without harshness. A pleasant dryness persists, inviting another sip rather than lingering heavily.
