IPApricot

Tap to rate

A fruited IPA with apricot, part of Pilot's line of fruit IPAs. The brewery describes it as hoppy, juicy and packed with aromatic apricot. Oats in the grist soften the body, and the stone fruit sits on top of the hop character rather than replacing it. 5.4%. First released in 2022 and brought back since, most recently in early 2026; that batch has sold out in the brewery's shop.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with bright, earthy noble hop character—floral and herbal notes that anchor the composition. Stone fruit aromatics, particularly apricot, sit prominently atop the hop base, adding a ripe, slightly sweet dimension without masking the bittering varieties. Beneath lies a soft malt bed with a hint of oat softness, grounding the profile without obstruction.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and moderately hoppy, with a juicy mid-palate where apricot flavour integrates alongside persistent hop bitterness. The oat addition delivers a gentle, smooth body that carries both the fruit and the 60 IBU punch without harshness. Bitterness is measured and finishes dry, allowing the stone fruit character to linger without cloying.

◑ Finish

Medium-length finish with a clean, dry exit that favours the hop character over residual sweetness. Apricot notes fade gradually into a subtle herbal and earthy aftertaste.

What is a Fruited IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar Fruited IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hoppy, juicy, fruity character as IPApricot will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
