WRONG Lager

Tap to rate

A Franconian amber lager with bready, slightly honeyed reflexes and a round, full body, thanks to 12.6 °P original gravity and 2.7 °P residual extract. The recipe comes from John Wright, drummer and brewer for 33 years. It uses 100 % Vienna malt and Hallertau Perle and Solero hops (70/30) in place of Triple Pearl, plus Saphir in the lagering tank. 5.1 % ABV.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with soft, inviting bready notes from 100% Vienna malt, underpinned by subtle honey reflexes that add gentle complexity. Noble hop character emerges in the mid-range, with Hallertauer, Perle, and Solero hops contributing a refined, non-aggressive herbal-spice foundation. Lagering with Saphir has imparted a clean, reductive profile free of any yeast-driven esters.

◐ Taste

Entry is full and round, driven by the beer's 12.6 °P original gravity and gentle residual extract of 2.7 °P. Bready Vienna malt dominates the mid-palate with caramel undertones, while the 70/30 split of Perle and Solero hops provides measured bitterness (22 IBU) that integrates smoothly without sharp edges. The finish remains crisp and refreshing despite the substantial body.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is clean and lingering, with bready-malt character fading gracefully into a dry, refreshing tail. No harsh hop burn or cloying residue remains.
