🌍 Germany · Dunkel · One of 31 Dunkels in hopIQ

An unfiltered dark lager brewed the old Munich way, from roughly nine parts dark Munich malt to one part pale barley malt and no colouring shortcuts. It stands mahogany brown under a mocha-coloured, finely creamy head. Hallertauer Tradition hops give a restrained noble aroma that the absence of filtration lets through clearly. The palate is full and prickling, with spicy roasted notes and an idea of dark chocolate; at 12.7 degrees Plato the residual sweetness stays fairly high while the hop never pushes forward.

Taste

The palate opens with rich malt-forward flavors of bready grain and subtle caramel sweetness, transitioning to a gently roasted character in the mid-palate. Refined hop bitterness (18 IBU) provides excellent balance without overshadowing the malt, resulting in a smooth, medium-bodied drinking experience with nutty undertones.

Finish

The finish is refreshingly dry with a clean, crisp aftertaste that allows the malt complexity to fade gracefully. A subtle nuttiness lingers pleasantly without any harsh astringency or lingering sweetness.
