Newlands Spring Pilsner

Pale straw yellow with excellent clarity and bright carbonation throughout. A fine white head forms quickly and maintains good Schaumhaftung, leaving delicate lacing on the glass. The mineral character of the brewing water contributes to the beer's luminous, clean appearance.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with crisp Hallertau hop character—herbaceous and gently floral—layered over a clean, understated malt base. The Cape mountain spring water provides a subtle mineral backdrop that enhances the beer's sense of purity and refreshment. Noble-hop spice emerges on closer inspection, with no yeast-derived esters or other distractions.

◐ Taste

Entry is crisp and light, with a delicate malt sweetness that transitions smoothly to a firm, well-structured bitterness. The Edelhopfen character builds through the mid-palate—herbaceous and noble in character—while the mineral minerality of the brewing water amplifies the beer's overall sense of cleanliness. Finish is dry and assertive, with no lingering sweetness.

The bitterness persists cleanly into the aftertaste, leaving the palate refreshed rather than fatigued. A bready note emerges in the final seconds, grounding the finish in subtle malt character.

Serve well-chilled at 4–6°C for maximum crispness. A pilsner served too warm loses its defining snap.
