Dissenter

Tap to rate

A 6.5% IPA built on five hops, Columbus, Simcoe, Cryo Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo, for a big and complex flavour of citrus, pine and floral notes. Best ale and crystal malts with torrified wheat sit underneath, in an amber colour that stays naturally cloudy, just like Pendle Hill. It is dedicated to those who paid the ultimate price back in the day, and it is vegan.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Dissenter

◎ Appearance

Deep amber hue with a natural cloudiness that catches the light, characteristic of the style and referencing the landscape that inspired this brew. A substantial cream-colored head forms readily and clings to the glass in fine lacing. Bright carbonation moves through the body with steady, visible activity.

◌ Aroma

A layered hop profile opens with prominent pine and citrus notes, led by the Columbus and Cryo Citra additions. Beneath this sits a floral undertone from the Mosaic and Amarillo hops, herbaceous and refined. A subtle malty sweetness and wheat character provide a warm foundation without competing with the hop complexity.

◐ Taste

The palate enters with a bold citrus and pine character that unfolds across the mid-palate into a more delicate floral complexity. The five-hop blend creates a balanced bitterness at 60 IBU that is pronounced but not harsh, with lingering tropical notes from the Amarillo and Mosaic. Crystal and best ale malts provide just enough sweet body to frame the hops without becoming cloying, while torrified wheat adds a clean, slightly dry texture.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and moderately long, with the hop bitterness gradually receding to reveal a faint tropical sweetness. A clean, slightly grainy dryness persists in the aftertaste.

Serve at 8–11°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.
