Hofbräuhaus Traunstein Weißbier Dunkel

Tap to rate

A deep, spicy-smoky taste from dark specialty malt meets honey, blossom and caramel notes, with a quiet fruit note and fine yeast. The caramel malt comes from an old family malthouse in Middle Franconia that makes it only for Traunstein. The beer recalls the first one brewed here for the Elector in the early 17th century, back when hard water gave it its dark colour. 5.2 % ABV.

The aromatic profile remains balanced and inviting rather than assertive.

◐ Taste

Entry shows substantial malty character with caramel sweetness and a gentle roast. The mid-palate carries spice and smoke in equal measure, while honey and wheat notes weave through, kept in check by a soft, clean bitterness from noble hops at 15 IBU. The finish remains dry and slightly peppery without harshness.
