Edel 0,0

Germany·Alcohol-Free Lager
Tap to rate

Herb and fresh, with real character: Edel 0,0 % starts out as a classic Vollbier brewed under the German Reinheitsgebot from hops, malt, water and yeast. A gentle process then removes the alcohol and keeps the full, herb-fresh taste. It arrived in February 2026, on popular request: the brewery's main variety, Edel, now also alcohol-free.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with herbaceous noble hops—characteristic of Edelhopfen varieties—supported by clean malt undertones that suggest bread crust and subtle grain sweetness. A crisp, fresh quality dominates, with no apparent yeast esters or off-notes; the alcohol removal has preserved the aromatic profile without leaving solvent or chemical traces.

◐ Taste

Entry is smooth and full-bodied for an alcohol-free lager, with malty sweetness balanced by a moderate herbal bitterness from the noble hop charge (22 IBU). Mid-palate develops pleasant breadiness and a crisp drying quality that prevents any cloying sensation; the finish leans toward hoppy and mineral rather than syrupy, maintaining the character expected of the original Edel.

◑ Finish

Dry, clean aftertaste with lingering herbal-hop notes and a whisper of bread grain. The finish is moderately long and leaves the palate refreshed rather than sticky, befitting a Vollbier-style lager stripped of alcohol.
