Avery IPA

Tap to rate

Floral hops open the nose, resinous pine takes over the palate, and a malty backbone with a dry finish carries it home. Avery IPA was Colorado's first packaged IPA, and it is now dry-hopped with Idaho 7 and Simcoe on top of a Columbus, Centennial, Cascade and Chinook hop bill. Munich, C-120 and two-row malts shape the body of this 6.5% ABV Colorado IPA.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with pronounced floral hop character, drawing from Simcoe and Idaho 7 in the dry-hop charge. Resinous pine emerges as the beer warms, layered beneath subtle herbal and woody notes from the Columbus and Centennial additions. A clean malt foundation supports without dominating, allowing the hop aromatics to remain the focal point.

◐ Taste

Entry is crisp with immediate hop bitterness and resinous character across the mid-palate, derived from the assertive hop selection and 60 IBU load. Munich and C-120 malts provide a structured, slightly sweet backbone that balances the bitterness without becoming cloying. The finish turns progressively drier, with lingering pine and a clean, mineral-like drying sensation.

◑ Finish
