Dank IPA

Tap to rate

Ripe tropical fruit meets heady aromas of skunk, cat pee and sweat, and the brewery means that in a good way. Some of the most pungent U.S. hops the west coast has to offer drive this 6% IPA, and its own tasting note is refreshingly blunt about it. Dank has been poured on cask, keg and in cans since at least 2017 and keeps coming back.

◌ Aroma

The nose is dominated by assertive U.S. hop character that carries tropical fruit notes—pineapple and citrus zest—alongside more pungent, herbal elements reminiscent of fresh-cut grass and resinous pine. A distinct funk underpins the profile, with subtle earthy and slightly sulfurous notes that add complexity without overwhelming. The malt backbone provides only a faint sweetness, allowing the hops to command the aromatic space.

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.
