Les Trois Mousquetaires

Schwarzbier·Canada·5% ABV·One of 98 Schwarzbiers in hopIQ·

hopIQ found 10 beers that share Noire's roasted and coffee character. A black lager in the Schwarzbier mould, brewed on pale and Munich malt with Cara and Carafa carrying the colour. Roast leads without turning ashy: coffee grounds and dark chocolate up front, a hint of pumpernickel crust behind. The body stays light for the colour, and 25 IBU of German noble hops joins the roast to dry the finish. What lingers is bitter cocoa rather than sweetness.
