Full-bodied and tingling, it ends with only a little hop bitterness. Josef Schmerold took over the brewery in 1835 and Dominik Gerner in 1873; Gerner was elected mayor of Uttendorf in 1876. The brewery now turns out about 19,000 hectolitres a year.
