In May 2012, the International Trappist Association approved Engelszell as the 9th Authentic Trappist brewery in the world — the only one in Austria. Brews on a 15hl brewhouse with 2,000 hl/year output using local Mühlviertel hops, Austrian Pilsner malt, and Alsatian wine yeast. Monastery honey used in Gregorius and Benno.
