Beer has been brewed at Eggenberg Castle since the 14th century. Commercial brewing began in 1681 when Michael Weismann purchased the property from Kremsmünster Monastery. Family-owned by the Forstinger-Stöhr family since 1803 — nine generations. Internationally famous for Samichlaus Classic (14% ABV, 'the world's strongest lager') and Urbock 23°. Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6th and lagered 10 months before release. Exports to 45+ countries.
