Deep garnet-brown to nearly black, with excellent clarity and a dense, tan head that clings persistently to the glass walls. The color suggests substantial roasted grain content while maintaining the transparency expected of a well-crafted dark ale. Carbonation is moderate and even, supporting a fine-textured foam collar.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with espresso and roasted malt in equal measure, grounded by the earthiness of English pale and crystal malts. Subtle citrus and herbal hop character emerge in the background without competing with the coffee-forward profile. No astringency or burnt character; the roast is balanced and inviting.

◐ Geschmack

Coffee dominates the palate entry and mid-palate with a dry, slightly grainy quality that prevents it from becoming syrupy or overconfident. The underlying malt sweetness—dark fruit and subtle caramel—provides structure without masking the espresso component. Bitterness registers at a measured level, allowing hop character to show as citrus notes rather than aggressive IBU punch.
