Andechs Vollbier Hell

Andechs pours pale gold with a thick, lasting head that doesn't apologize. The nose is grainy-sweet, almost biscuity, with a whisper of noble hops that feel more decorative than assertive. On the first sip, you get this gentle, slightly oily mouthfeel—the beer coats your palate like it's wrapping you in something soft. The finish is clean but it leaves behind a faint sweetness, almost honey-like, that lingers just long enough to make you reach for another sip before food shows up.

Paulaner Münchner Hell

Paulaner's head is tighter, more efficient—no wasted foam here. You notice the minerality immediately, a subtle chalkiness that most people wouldn't articulate but absolutely feel. The malt backbone is there but it's drier, more reserved, like someone's holding it back on purpose. There's a crispness to the finish that comes fast and clean, with just enough bitterness (barely, but it's there) to keep it from feeling one-dimensional. It's a beer that wants you to notice its restraint.
