Diebels Brauerei
Brauerei Diebels was founded in 1878 in Issum on the Lower Rhine by the Krefeld brewer Josef Diebels and stayed with the family for more than a century. In 1977 it dropped pilsner, export and dark lager to concentrate on Altbier, and by the early 1980s it was brewing a million hectolitres a year. Interbrew bought the company in 2001; today it belongs to AB InBev. After the range was cut back in 2023 and one of two bottling lines closed in 2024, Diebels Alt is the only beer still made under the name.
