Chiemseer is a Bavarian lager brand based in Rosenheim and owned by the Paulaner brewery group. The beer was first brewed in the early 1980s at a Traunstein brewery that has since closed. A local company set up in 2009/2010 as Chiemgauer Brauhaus took the brand on, and production moved to the Auerbräu brewhouse, which now trades as Rosenheimer Spezialitätenbrauerei. After a court found that Rosenheim does not lie on Lake Chiemsee, the labels have read “Gebraut in Rosenheim am Inn” since 2016. The range is small: a Helles, the stronger Braustoff and a 0.0% Helles.
