Baxbier was founded in 2014 by two friends in Groningen. What began as curiosity and a hobby soon turned serious, and after a successful crowdfunding the brewery opened its own brewhouse in 2016. Around 25 people now develop inventive beers, often with plenty of hops or a playful twist: a wide core range plus many one-offs, often brewed with other breweries. The motto is Seriously Playful, and a tasting room with a sunny terrace sits on the Reitdiep.
