Alexander Keith's Brewery was founded in 1820 by Scottish immigrant Alexander Keith in Halifax, Nova Scotia, making it one of the oldest commercial breweries in Canada. Keith served as Halifax's mayor three times and his brewery became a Nova Scotia institution. In 1928 the business was sold to the Oland family's brewing interests, which were subsequently acquired by Labatt Brewing Company. Today Alexander Keith's operates as a brand under Labatt, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of AB InBev.
