Spitfire Lager

Shepherd Neame
Tap to rate
🌍 United Kingdom · Pale Lager · One of 1 Pale Lagers in hopIQ

Shepherd Neame's lager detour — a pale lager with full body but discreet hopping (only 14 IBU), a vanilla note up front per the brewery's Cyclops descriptor. The name Spitfire refers to the RAF fighter of the Battle of Britain — the Faversham brewery sits in the heart of Kent, where the Spitfires were stationed. The Amber Ale sibling is better known, but this lager has its own following.

About Pale Lager

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a Pale Lager?

Euro Pale Lagers are clean, refreshing lagers with 4–5.5% ABV and IBU 10–25. Soft malt sweetness, light hop bitterness and high carbonation make them supremely drinkable.

Finding a similar Pale Lager

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same clean, crisp, refreshing character as Spitfire Lager will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
