Kumburák

Czech Republic·Czech Premium Pale Lager
Tap to rate

Kumburák is a pale lager with a full taste and a velvety head, made with water from the brewery's own well, quality malt and Žatec hops. It is named after the ruined Kumburk castle, six kilometres from Nová Paka. Built in the early 14th century, it was laid waste by the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War and demolished in 1658 on the emperor's order. The poet K. H. Mácha liked to visit it.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with a smooth, full-bodied entry that belies the modest alcohol content. Bready malt sweetness unfolds in the mid-palate, balanced by restrained hop bitterness and a crisp, drying quality that prevents cloying. The Žatec hops contribute a measured noble-hop bitterness that integrates seamlessly with the malt foundation.
