LA Lager

Tap to rate

Thin, crisp and clean, with a mild bread-like malt aroma, a slight touch of oat cereal and very low bitterness. NOLA Brewing's first year-round lager is hopped with Comet, Newport and Perle and brewed with pilsner malt among others. It follows the Louisiana lifestyle, and the 'NOLA' in the brewery name stands for New Orleans Lager & Ale.

Pale golden hue with exceptional clarity and bright transparency. The head forms quickly and settles to a thin, persistent collar with fine Schaumhaftung along the glass. Carbonation is lively and uniform throughout, visible as a steady stream of fine bubbles.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with a soft, rounded bread-like character reminiscent of warm wheat and white crumb. A subtle cereal note—slightly grainy and oat-forward—weaves through without dominating. The Comet, Newport, and Perle hops provide restrained floral and herbal undertones that remain in the background, contributing to an overall clean, uncluttered profile.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and crisp, with a light malt sweetness that sits low on the palate. Mid-palate shows the pilsner malt's gentle grain character without heaviness, balanced by the subtle hop blend that introduces a whisper of herbal restraint. Bitterness remains minimal at 18 IBU, allowing the malt foundation to finish the thought without assertiveness.

◑ Finish

The finish is short and clean, fading to a dry grain-derived aftertaste. No residual sweetness or hop bite lingers; instead, a subtle drying sensation on the palate invites another sip.
