Maya's Spruce Tip IPA

Tap to rate

Maya's Spruce Tip IPA is built on a pilsner malt base with locally sourced spruce tips, giving it a pine edge and a crisp finish. Golden in color, 6.5% ABV and 60 IBU. Sixty pounds of those tips were gathered for it by students who lost their summer jobs to covid, and the beer celebrates the hard-working families of the Upper Susitna Valley.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with a clean, crisp entry carrying pronounced pine and herbal character from the spruce tips, building into a balanced mid-palate where light tropical hop notes emerge alongside the malt's soft grain foundation. The 60 IBU bitterness arrives as a firm but measured presence, finishing with a dry, peppery bite that complements rather than overwhelms.

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.
