◌ Aroma

The nose leads with pronounced citrus notes—lemon zest and grapefruit—layered over tropical fruit character reminiscent of peach and passionfruit. Beneath the hop-forward aromatics sits a solid backbone of pale Malz, contributing subtle biscuit and grain undertones that prevent the profile from becoming one-dimensional.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with bright citrus and stone fruit flavours that drive the mid-palate experience, supported by the substantial Malz charge that provides body and a gentle sweetness. Bitterness arrives cleanly at 60 IBU—assertive but not harsh—and integrates well with the malt backbone rather than dominating the finish.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry and moderately lengthy, with hop bitterness gradually receding to reveal lingering citrus and subtle grain notes. A gentle warmth from the 6.5% ABV becomes apparent in the aftertaste without any alcohol burn.

Finding a similar West Coast IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hoppy, tropical, citrusy character as Southville Hop will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
