Tap to rate

The cranberries come from the dunes near Ballum, from the patch known as 'Bij 't roaie hek'. They are picked, carefully cleaned and added during the boil, giving this ruby-coloured beer cranberry fruit and a firm bitterness. Barley and wheat malt, hops and coriander complete the recipe at 6.5% ABV; the 2022 TV programme Binnenstebuiten showed the cranberries being picked for it.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with tart cranberry notes, supported by a herbal coriander edge and soft spice. Beneath lies a clean, subtle malt foundation that does not dominate; the fruit forward character is the defining feature. A dry, slightly bracing quality suggests the cranberry's natural acidity.

◐ Taste

Cranberry fruit arrives on entry with a firm, mouth-puckering tartness that builds into a moderately bitter finish. Coriander adds a gentle spiced warmth mid-palate, while the wheat and barley malt provide a light, dry foundation without sweetness. The bitterness is clean and direct, neither aggressive nor lingering heavily.

◑ Finish

The finish is crisp and refreshing, with the cranberry tartness and dry bitterness receding gradually. A lingering herbal note from the coriander remains subtly on the palate.
