Malquerida was developed by Damm's brewers with Ferran and Albert Adrià and their team, grew out of their work with Latin American cuisine and was launched in 2017 as what Damm calls a roja fresca, a fresh red beer. Alongside barley malt, maize, rice and a little wheat, the recipe includes orange juice, hibiscus, spices and hops. Hibiscus gives the beer its red colour with a faint pink tinge. It brings floral notes and freshness, orange adds fruity citrus aroma, wheat a light tartness, and the malt a soft toasted note under gentle hop spice.
