Hannöversch Helles

Hannöversch feels like it was made to disappear down your throat without complaint. The malt is soft and almost sweet—barely any edge—and there's a slight wheat-like roundness that makes it feel less crisp than some Helles I've had. The finish is clean but honestly forgettable in the best way, like the beer knows its job is to be easy. At 4.8%, it's a session beer that doesn't remind you it exists.

Tucher Urbräu Hell

Tucher's Urbräu Hell has more presence. There's a drier quality to the malt, almost a subtle mineral note that keeps things from getting too plush. The bitterness (same 18 IBU as the Ernst-August) lands slightly differently here—it's more defined, less abstract. The finish has a hint of white pepper or spice that lingers just long enough to remind you what you're drinking. It's still smooth, but it's not trying to fade into the background.
